Why Plan?

Planning helps set a foundation for growth. Strategic planning sets realistic goals to help facilitate decision making. It also sets a time frame for achieving these goals and defines how to measure performance and assigns responsibility.

Through my leadership, Abbeville has been accepted into the Louisiana Development Ready Community Program. We have been working with the State Economic Development to assess our community through public outreach. I am excited to announce that we just completed writing our 3 -Year Strategic Plan which outlines priorities and set goals and benchmarks to measure progress. Completing the LDRC program puts Abbeville in the forefront of the minds of the state team who are often the first line of contact for new businesses and industry scouting locations in Louisiana. Communities that complete the LDRC program are more competitive because they have a written plan describing how they are going to leverage assets and address challenges. The next step is to use the plan to create action which leads to progress.

This is just the first step in long term strategic planning to help identify where Abbeville is going and how we are going to get there. Stay tuned!
